Skin Boosters Injection Design Notes
Rejuran:
Do More Bumps Mean Better Results?Three Things That Matter More Than Bumps
A reference chart comparing injection angles, target areas, and injection layers.
Key Takeaways
- The number or size of bumps does not directly determine treatment results.
- The formulation and injection layer may vary by treatment area and purpose.
- What matters is distributing the volume appropriately across the treatment area, rather than simply using more or less.
Rejuran treatment is commonly associated with closely spaced injections into the dermis that create small bumps across the face.
However, the number or size of these bumps does not determine the outcome.
These bumps are temporary injection marks that appear when small deposits of product are placed within the skin. Intradermal microinjections may be appropriate for superficial texture concerns and fine lines, but every area does not necessarily need to be treated at the same depth.
Bumps show the immediate injection response,
not the extent of the treatment effectWhat the bumps actually show
Dermal thickness, the amount of subcutaneous fat, fat compartments, and movement vary across the face. The eye area is thin and delicate, while the cheeks, temples, and jawline have different skin and fat structures.
Depending on the treatment goal, there may be situations in which placement just beneath the dermis, in the subcutaneous layer, or deeper around particular fat compartments is advantageous, rather than placement in the dermis alone.
The official intended use of Rejuran HB plus specifies subcutaneous injection of polynucleotides and hyaluronic acid. In other words, Rejuran does not necessarily have to be injected superficially to create bumps in order to have an effect.
Choose the appropriate formulationChoose the formulation
Rejuran is not a single injection used in exactly the same way everywhere. Good treatment involves assessing skin thickness, fat structure, scar depth, and dryness to select different formulations, rather than injecting one product uniformly across the entire face.
| Rejuran Healer | Used when considering treatment of overall facial texture, elasticity, and fine lines. |
|---|---|
| Rejuran I | A formulation intended for the thin, highly mobile skin around the eyes. |
| Rejuran S | Used for scars, fat atrophy, and treatment of deeper layers. |
| Rejuran HB plus | Combines PN and hyaluronic acid to address regeneration and hydration, with lidocaine that may help reduce discomfort during treatment. |
Choose a layer suited to skin anatomyPlan the injection layer
Even within the same face, the eye area, temples, cheeks, mouth area, jawline, and neck differ in skin thickness and movement. Injection depth should therefore be planned according to the treatment goal and product characteristics, rather than uniformly repeating shallow intradermal microinjections.
Distribute volume according to the treatment areaDistribute an appropriate volume
When treating the entire face as well as the eye area, temples, cheeks, mouth area, jawline, and neck, 2 cc alone may not be enough to distribute the required amount evenly to each area.
- Eye area
- Temples
- Cheeks
- Mouth area
- Jawline
- Neck
In clinical practice, several Rejuran formulations may be used in different areas, and the combined volume in some individualized combination treatments may reach 16–20 cc in a single session.
This is a strategy for distributing the required amount across a broad treatment area and different anatomical layers, rather than using a large volume of filler to make the face fuller.[2] [3]
At INEE Clinic, our focus is not simply the number of bumps or the total volume used. Understanding skin anatomy, selecting the necessary formulation, and safely placing an adequate amount in the appropriate layer. This is the essence of Rejuran treatment that matters more than the number of bumps.
